The solar thermal collector converts solar short wave energy into long wave energy (heat) and is more than 10 times as efficient as traditional solar cells. Solar thermal collectors provide 250 - 1150 kWh / m² per year, depending on the location and hours of sunshine. More than 50% of the annual energy needs can be met by free energy from the sun. The remaining requirements can be met with gas, biofuels or electricity.
